This is a bottle of memories from May 6th, 2018, my 21st birthday. I spent the day at the Tokyo Rainbow Pride parade with my partner back then, where a photographer I admire captured a moment of us for an LGBTQ project. Adding to the excitement, my favorite artist, Ayumi Hamasaki, performed at the event. The day was filled with surprises, as my friends later celebrated with me at a Mexican restaurant and a club.
I wanted to encapsulate this overwhelming and special day uniquely and fluidly with the visuals and some sounds from the day. Imagine you are now prying into the production of my memories as you watch the video.
To create this piece, I used a glass bottle, some ice, printed waterproof photos on a glass vessel, and color pigments. As the ice began to melt, the colors gradually blended, capturing the essence of the moment shown in the video. These colors represent our memories, evolving and merging over time, much like the way that day unfolded.
